Course overview

The kinetic theory of gases. Thermodynamics: the first law and thermochemistry, the second law and entropy, free energy and chemical equilibria, multicomponent systems, the chemical potential, solutions and colligative properties. Electrochemistry: properties of ions and aqueous solutions, electromotive forces and electrochemical cells, colloidal systems, electrokinetic phenomena. Biological applications.
