The Ignite program is a three-week immersive experience designed for high school students with a strong background in science or technology and a keen interest in innovation and entrepreneurship. Hosted on the Technion’s world-class campus in Haifa, the program combines academic enrichment, hands-on learning, and direct exposure to Israel’s dynamic research and startup ecosystem.
A core component of the program is extensive exposure to Technion’s cutting-edge research laboratories. Students visit multiple laboratories across a variety of Technion faculties, where they are introduced to ground-breaking research by faculty members. During these visits, students learn about current scientific challenges, research methodologies, and real-world applications.
In parallel, students participate in interactive workshops and lectures focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven problem solving. A highlight of the program is a two-day Hackathon, during which participants engage in an intensive, hands-on experience combining engineering methodologies and principles. Working in teams, students tackle real-world challenges, develop creative solutions, and present their work in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
The program also provides first-hand exposure to Israel’s entrepreneurial culture through visits to startup companies and innovation hubs, as well as guest lectures by leading Israeli entrepreneurs—many of them Technion alumni. These encounters offer valuable insights into the journey from research and innovation to startup creation, while also helping students reflect on future academic and professional pathways beyond high school.
Alongside its academic components, the program includes social and recreational activities, creating a balanced and engaging experience that combines rigorous learning with cultural exploration and fun. By the end of the program, students gain a deeper understanding of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, while developing critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills in a university-level setting.
