Candidates must meet the following requirements:
– SAT, ACT, or Israeli Psychometric Test score
– Foreign high school matriculation requirements as outlined below
– English Proficiency – a minimum score of 521 in the Evidence based Reading and Writing section of the SAT, or at least 22 in the English section of the ACT, or a score of at least 104 in the English section of the Israeli Psychometric Test or the AMIRAM test.
– Interview with the Guidance Counselor from Technion’s Student Counselling and Support Center, and if requested, an addition interview or academic test as requested by the program’s Academic Committee
Calculation of the Sekem grade
The Technion calculates a “Sekem” grade for each candidate. The Sekem grade is the combination of the best matriculation average from abroad, recognized by the Technion, together with the multidisciplinary Israeli psychometric grade or the SAT/ACT. Candidates must obtain a Sekem grade of 86 out of 100 in order to be accepted to the program.
Foreign high school matriculation requirements:
1. Acceptance based on the five types of recognized foreign matriculations/diplomas (AP tests, OSSD, IB, BAC, GSCE):
Admission is based on the Sekem calculation for the five types of diplomas recognized by the Technion, with detailed criteria available on the registration and admission website: https://admissions.technion.ac.il/en/english/ib-ossd-bacs-gcse-ap-tests/
2. Acceptance based on matriculation/diplomas from the supplementary countries list:
Diplomas from the following countries (please see the attached list) will be considered if they meet the following requirements:
a. High average score on the diploma (usually defined as 90 or A-grade – please refer to the aforementioned list)
b. Highest level of Mathematics available in the designated diploma country with a very high score
c. At least one scientific subject among the following with a very high score: Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science.
d. Psychometric/SAT score requirement – Translated score equivalent to at least 650 on the Psychometric Test, as detailed here
e. Candidates who do not meet all requirements, but demonstrate exceptional performance in one parameter (e.g., high diploma average, high mathematics score, or high Psychometric score) will be reviewed by the program’s Academic committee, which will decide if they can be admitted to the program.
3. Foreign matriculations/diplomas not listed in clauses 1 and 2:
Candidates with diplomas that are not listed in clauses 1 and 2 must meet the following threshold requirements:
a. Psychometric/SAT score requirement – Translated score equivalent to at least 650 on the Psychometric Test, as detailed here.
b. A diploma that includes Mathematics and at least one additional scientific subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science) at the highest level available in the designated diploma country, with a score equivalent to at least 80.
c. A letter of intent/motivation from the candidate
d. Interview with the program’s Academic Committee.
4. Candidates in Their Final Year of High School (Foreign Diplomas Only):
Candidates in their final year of high school are required to meet the criteria outlined in sections 1-3 but may present predicted final grades based on 11th-Grade scores (instead of the final diploma grades).
