Academic Program
The following is an overview of the academic program. Please note the program may be subject to change.
August-October
- Dive into an immersive Hebrew course tailored to your level (you will be required to undergo a short online test to determine your Hebrew level in advance). Please note that in order to receive an exemption from the Hebrew course students required to undertake the Yael test and receive a score of 121 or higher. Scores must be submitted by the 15th of July.
- Students who did not study Physics or Chemistry in high school in accordance with Technion’s requirements are required to undertake preparatory courses and pass the classification exam in these subjects during the summer. Passing the classification exam is a pre-requisite to studying the foundational courses in Physics and Chemistry in the 1st semester.
- Engage in a preparatory course in mathematics.
- Settle into our dorms and join our vibrant social program, fostering camaraderie while exploring Technion, Haifa, and the beauty of Israel.
First semester (October- February)
- Continuing studying Hebrew as needed.
- Study foundational courses in Calculus, Algebra, Physics and Chemistry in English.
Second semester (March – June)
- Continue studying Hebrew as needed and study courses in English in accordance with the recommended study program in your area of interest.
- Please note a small number of students may be required to take courses in Hebrew during the second semester. In this case, the Dean of Undergraduate Studies may approve examination in English. This approval will apply only to courses offered by faculties participating in the program and only during the second semester of study.
- At the end of the 2nd semester, students will be required to choose the faculty they want to study in at Technion.
Conditions to continue studies in the 2nd year:
From the 2nd year on students will be registered as students in the faculty of their choice and will study regular courses in Hebrew. In order to transfer into one of the participating faculties in the program, students are required to attain Hebrew proficiency at the required level (Hebrew 3) by the end of the 1st year. In addition, students must complete Hebrew Course 4 by the end of the 2nd year in order to attain an exemption from Hebrew studies.
In addition, transition to the 2nd year is conditional on the completion of 27 academic credit points in the first year, an average grade of 65% and a cumulative success rate of at least 66% in the courses studied.
