Academic Program
The following is an overview of the academic program. Please note the program may be subject to change.
- Begin your adventure with arrival in Israel and settling into our comfortable student dormitories.
- Dive into an immersive Hebrew course tailored to your level, ensuring a smooth transition (you will be required to undergo a short online test to determine your Hebrew level in advance)
- All students must participate in a preparatory course in mathematics, and students who did not study the required courses in physics and chemistry as part of their high school matriculation must also study a preparatory course and pass an exam in physics and chemistry. Please note students who do not pass the preparatory courses in physics and chemistry will not be able to study these subjects in the first semester of the program.
- Join our vibrant social program, fostering camaraderie while exploring Technion, Haifa, and the beauty of Israel.
First semester (October- February)
- Continuing studying Hebrew while delving into academic courses taught in English.
- Study foundational courses in Calculus, Algebra, Chemistry, Physics and Engineering.
Second semester (March – June)
- Continue studying Hebrew as needed.
- Decide which field you would like to focus on for your studies at Technion from the following tracks: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, double major in Chemistry and Biology, or double major in Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering
- Continue to study foundational courses as well as a number of courses from your chosen track.
- Courses will be offered in English in all the tracks in the second semester, with the option of transferring to Hebrew courses depending on your Hebrew level
Conditions to continue studies in the 2nd year:
From the 2nd year on courses will be offered in Hebrew. In order to integrate into regular courses in Hebrew, students are required to pass Hebrew Course 3 by the end of the 1st year. In addition, students must complete Hebrew Course 4 by the end of the 2nd year in order to attain an exemption from Hebrew studies.
In addition, transition to the 2nd year is conditional on the completion of 27 academic credit points in the first year, an average grade of 65% and a cumulative success rate of at least 66% in the courses studied.
Degree awarded
Students in the program will graduate with a BSc in Engineering or Science in the field they choose to study at the Technion (BSc in Mechanical Engineering, BSc in Chemistry etc). The degree is expected to take at least 4 years to complete. The actual time to complete the program depends on the progress of students throughout their studies and may take longer than 4 years.
