Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What are the admission requirements to the program?

The program is open to students with a strong background in maths and science. Students must undertake a standardized test such as SAT or ACT and meet the Technion’s requirements for students with a foreign matriculation certificate. For detailed information please see the section “Admission Requirements”.

  1. When is the program opening?

The program is due to open in the 2025-26 academic year.

  1. What are the Hebrew language requirements?

Students are not required to have any Hebrew language knowledge in order to be accepted to the program. Students will study Hebrew intensively throughout the first year of the program, starting with the summer Ulpan. Prior to the commencement of the Ulpan students will be tested to determine their Hebrew level and they will study in a class at the appropriate level (Beginners, Beginners +, Advanced, Pre-Exemption).

From the 2nd year on courses will be offered in Hebrew. In order to integrate into regular courses in Hebrew, students are required to attain Hebrew proficiency at required level (level “Daled”) by the end of the 1st year. In addition, students must complete Hebrew Course 3 by the end of the 2nd year in order to attain an exemption from Hebrew studies.

  1. What courses are studied as part of the program in the first year?

In the first semester students will continue to study Hebrew whilst studying foundational courses in Calculus, Algebra, and Engineering. Students who studied Chemistry and Physics in high school will study foundational courses in these subjects in the first semester. Students who did not study Physics or Chemistry in high school are required to undertake preparatory courses and pass the classification exam in these subjects during the first semester. Passing the classification exam is a pre-requisite to studying the foundational courses in Physics and Chemistry in the 2nd semester.

In the 2nd semester students are required to choose the field they would like to focus on for their Technion studies from the following tracks: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, double major in Chemistry and Biology, or double major in Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering. Students will study foundational courses as well as courses in their chosen study track. Courses will be offered in English in all the tracks in the second semester.

For a full list of courses that will be offered please contact admissions@int.technion.ac.il.

  1. Is it possible to study other fields of engineering and science apart from the tracks offered as part of the program?

It may be possible to transfer to study other fields of engineering and science at Technion, however students will need to meet the academic requirements and be approved by the faculty to which they want to transfer. Please note the courses studied in English in the first year are not necessarily part of the curricula of other faculties and therefore it cannot be guaranteed that they will be recognized towards the student’s degree.

  1. What type of academic and social support will the Technion provide for students?

Students will be provided with a strong support system to help them integrate into the Technion and to thrive both academically and socially.

Students will have access to a counsellor who can provide emotional and psychological support as well as personal academic tutors to provide support for academic courses and Hebrew language. In addition, students will take part in a wide range of social and cultural activities organized by the Technion with the aim of getting to know Haifa and Israel, and forging friendships with other students.  Students will be matched with a Technion “Buddy”, a local student who will provide support and guidance.

  1. What benefits are provided to New Immigrants?

Students who have the status of a New Immigrant are entitled to generous state support, including tuition scholarships, tutoring and assistance with housing costs. Please see detailed information here.
